First State Flag (Delaware)
Delaware was the first state to ratify the United States constitution and as shown on its flag, this was on December 7, 1787. Delaware became the first state in the Union, and is, therefore, accorded the first position in such national events as presidential inaugurations. The flag has a field of colonial blue with a large central diamond of buff colour. As for the elements of the flag, the ship represents commerce, and the wheat, ox, corn and the farmer symbolise the importance of agriculture to the state. The figure in green is a revolutionary war soldier. The words in the ribbon banner read Liberty and Independence. The flag was adopted on July 24, 1913.

The first painted eggs came from Mesopotamia, and because eggs were forbidden food during Lent, people painted eggs while Lent was being observed—after Lent, they would eat the eggs on Easter Day.

Beautifully decorated eggs “pysanka” are associated with Ukraine, and the oldest painted egg that was unearthed in northern Ukraine is dated to the end of the 17th century.

Lying amidst rolling sand dunes, on a high bank overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, is the Fort Miles Historic Area, home of the Fort Miles Museum. The central features of the museum include Battery 519, six barracks buildings, a fire control tower, an orientation building, and the Fort Miles Artillery Park. The museum tells the story of Fort Miles, a key piece of the nation's coastal defence, from World War II through the early 1970s.

“Ooh, it's just starting to get a bit cold, Falkor!” said Harmony. “Can you hold my map while I dig out my gloves?"
Falkor good-naturedly took charge of Harmony's possessions while she emptied her rucksack of a pack of sandwiches, a Thermos flask, a pair of galoshes, a bag of toffees, a paperback novel, a bottle of mineral water, an address book, some postage stamps, an assortment of different coloured biros, a bottle opener, a couple of old train tickets, a handful of golden and silver moles, a door key, some shopping receipts, a screwdriver, a bottle of multivitamins, a lottery ticket and a selection of rather battered sachets of salt, sugar and tomato ketchup before locating the gloves right at the bottom. These she donned and then Falkor helped her put everything back in her rucksack.
