@ Scarlet Pathway
Snowfly and KazeFluff are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Purple
A country ramble awaits the pets and after exploring woodland paths, a small settlement will be found. At the spice store they will find cinnamon, chillies, star anise and chestnuts, plus purple flowers for perfumery. They will skirt a small lake before seeing a host of pink and purple-hued flowers and plants. Don't forget to grab an apple or two to munch as you head out onto the next stage of our tour!

As we begin our journey we are welcomed by a wonderful scarlet pathway. With the vivid canopy above, the crunchy leaves under our feet, and the sun-kissed trees on the side of the trail, we anticipate what beauty lies ahead.

@ Illusion of Nightfall
Snowfly normally avoided tourist hotspots but he was glad he had come, especially since meeting his friend Wee Willie here!

Proceeding along the trail something unexpected happens right away. The canopy becomes so dense it gives the illusion of impending nightfall. The light beckons you ahead.

@ Undulating Road
“What an amazing view!” exclaimed Snowfly after shaking paws with sprout, who agreed with him. Snowfly was excited to meet up again with sprout. They both took a moment to admire the amazing scene around them.

The light leads us to the remnants of a paved gently undulating road shrouded with trees just beginning to lose their leaves. We wonder what pets have journeyed through here in times gone by.

@ Autumn Rice Field
“What have you got in your tote bag, Bella?” asked Snowfly. “It looks very full!”
“I’ve come prepared for anything the weather can throw at us, Snowfly,” responded Bella. “There’s deck shoes, snowshoes, tennis shoes, flip-flops, flippers, walking boots, Wellington boots—you name them, I’ve got them!”

This journey is definitely full of surprises! One never knows what to expect as they round the bend of life and this rice field is the perfect example. Who knew rice could grow here in the cool autumn temperatures?

@ Sunlight Road
Arriving at such a wonderful location spurred Snowfly on to get to the next stop on the Autumn Experience. However, Sugar sat down, insisting on a rest and complaining of blisters!

The undulating road has smoothed out and we are bathed in the warm rays of sunshine as they illuminate the path ahead and the glory of the autumn leaves.

@ Wild Blueberries
“This reminds me of Meadowlands,” observed Snowfly, musing as he and Rosco took a moment to admire the produce beside them. “Such a lovely, peaceful scene.”

Just as your tummy begins to rumble you spot these deeply colored wild blueberries in the brush beside the trail. The color is much deeper than the berries you have seen at the market and your mouth begins to water. Perfect timing and oh-so-refreshing!

@ Fresh Chestnuts
“I hope we can buy more of this at our local farmer's market,” observed Snowfly, as he and Felix tucked into a delicious food sample!

As soon as my eyes catch the sight of these baskets of freshly harvested chestnuts, washed and ready to purchase, a familiar song gets stuck in my head. Is it too early to sing Christmas carols?

@ Vision in Violet
"Foxy Rex, was that last one we looked at a thorn bush with roses? Or a rose bush with thorns?" asked Snowfly.

Pets who love the color purple will be captivated by the intense color of this gorgeous violet flower. The vendor claims it will last for weeks as a cut flower so no reason to leave without buying a bouquet.

“This reminds me of Meadowlands,” observed Snowfly, musing as he and Arthur took a moment to admire the produce beside them. “Such a lovely, peaceful scene.”

Nothing smells like autumn like the aroma of hot spiced apple cider. Combine cinnamon sticks, star anise, oranges studded with whole cloves, brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg, and apple cider into a pot and steep them all together for a favorite fall drink.

“I’m going to ask if I can take a cutting of this,” Teeka said to Snowfly. “This would look just fine in a half barrel in my front garden!”

"I wish I knew more about horticulture, Jack" said Snowfly. "Sometimes I can't tell if something's a plant or a weed!"
"Oh, there's a sure-fire way of telling the difference, Snowfly! Pull on it—if it comes out of the ground easily, it's a really valuable plant.”

@ Log Cabin in the Woods
Snowfly opened his rucksack to change his hat. purple could see Snowfly had a baseball cap, a sombrero, a beret, a straw boater, a cricket cap, a sou'wester, a large, floppy sunhat and a pith helmet!
“Did you bring a mortarboard too?” purple asked Snowfly.
Log Cabin in the Woods
Ahhh, here it is, our lodging for tonight. We came upon this log cabin just in time as I need to stop and rest awhile. This cozy cabin in the woods looks so warm and inviting. We should get a good night's sleep in this peaceful spot! I do hope they have a porch swing to relax on!

Snowfly thought the scenery at this new stop was lovely and asked Benjamin B. Buzzer if it would be possible to set up camp for the night!

No rose is a mysterious as the purple rose and its fragrance is just as fascinating. This single rose is simply stunning when placed in a bouquet with other lavender-hued flowers.

“You know, Cicero said 'If you have a garden and a library you have everything you need',” mused Choose a name.
"I don't think I've met Cicero," said Snowfly. "Is he on this tour?"

What an extremely rare sight! I bet you didn't know there was a variety of lilacs that blooms in the fall. Well, there is! It's called Josee Reblooming Lilac. Lilacs, not just for spring anymore!

“My uncle grows these in his back garden,” observed Snowfly.

"Put your camera down for a minute, Snowfly," said lady ciganko, "and just drink in that view!"

"I think I'll take a cutting of the plant in that tub over there," said Snowfly. The label says it's 'vigorous' and 'fearless'."
TEDDY sniffed. "That's gardeners' talk for 'an invasive species that will take over your entire garden if permitted'!"

@ Purple Leaf with Raindrops
2020 bent down to sniff the flower in front of him but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, 2020?” asked Snowfly.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said 2020.

COVID-19 bent down to sniff the flower in front of him but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, COVID-19?” asked Snowfly.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said COVID-19.

The sun has come out and a rare warm autumn breeze has dried up the raindrops on the leaf so now you can see what the rest of the purple-leaved plant looks like.

“Great to meet you again, Hydro Jen!” said Snowfly. “Come and have some of this farm-grown organic food—it’s absolutely yummy!”

@ Pink Poinsettia Flowers
“What’s this flower called?” Snowfly said to Akiren Kurumiya (Joker). “Er—I only know the Latin name for it,” said Akiren Kurumiya (Joker) and hastily changed the subject.

Pale pink and dark purple leaves make this a quite dramatic poinsettia plant! And no, it's not too early to think about poinsettias because if we want them to look like this they need to be placed into a dark room several months before Christmas so that the leaves change colors.

@ Feathery Plumes in Pink
Felix shook paws with Snowfly and was just enjoying the view when he was distracted by loud rustling as Snowfly unfolded a very lengthy Autumn Experience itinerary, in the course of which he succeeded in knocking Felix’s hat off. “Put that away, do!” snapped Felix. “I’m about to take a photo of this amazing scene—the picture will be of your map if you don’t fold it up pronto!”
Feathery Plumes in Pink
Soft and wispy, like a daydream, these delicate-looking flowers are anything but that. They are actually a sturdy wildflower, blooming all summer long through the end of autumn.

@ Autumn in Purple
Snowfly is enjoying the Autumn Experience when Sweety comes along. "Look! A special prize!" says Sweety. Snowfly looks down and sees something valuable. Sweety generously lets Snowfly keep it!
