"Apparently nine out of ten Danes own a bicycle, and they have 7500 miles' worth (12,000 km) of cycle lanes throughout the country," responded Zuri.

"Today's trivia question, Jaskier! What is special about the Danish flag?" asked Eleanor.
Jaskier considered this. "Flag of Denmark. White cross on a red field. You know, when I can't sleep, I list in my head all the national flags in the world that use red and white only—there's about twenty of them, you know. Then I go on to blue and white—I'm digressing. I don't know; what's the answer?"
"The Danish flag, the Dannebrog remains the oldest state flag in the world still in use by an independent nation. It has been recognised as in use from 1219," replied Eleanor.

"Chef was saying last night that the Danish pastry actually originates from Vienna!" remarked Sweetie. "In the 1840s, some Austrian bakers settled in Denmark and introduced the now well-known and much-loved pastry. For this reason Danish pastry is actually called wienerbrød or 'Viennese bread' in Denmark."

"It says here that Aarhus is reputed to be Denmark’s happiest city and one can see why on a city break to Aarhus. First of all, it is small, attractive and easy to get around. It’s close to beaches and forests. Plus it’s packed full of cultural events and attractions such as the ARoS Art Museum and the cultural center DOKK1," said Eleanor.

"One reason for the Danes' happiness is the importance of hygge, the Danish way of enjoying quality time with friends and family. It can be many things, such as candle-lit dinners, wine, relaxed nights in. It's hard to explain," said Eleanor.
"Well, we certainly came across it this time last year in the Huskies, Hijinks and Hygge experience! We had some very cosy chats with all the pets over hot chocolate by the fire every evening in our accommodation!" replied Dorlinger.

Gjógv, Faroe Islands
Gorge, named after a 200-metre sea-filled gorge that travels north to the sea. The village was first mentioned in 1584 but it is thought to have been in existence a lot longer. The Gjógv incline railway is the only operating railway in the Faroe Islands and it was installed to transport goods from boats.

Wood Island, is the northernmost island in the Faroe Islands. It has become a very important bird area for breeding birds, some of which are the Atlantic Puffin, Black-Legged Kittiwakes and Common Guillemots.

There are no native trees on the Faroe Islands. There is evidence that there may have been some stands of Birch and Hazel before human settlement. There are a few stands of trees that have been planted between 1800 and 1900. This location was also used in the James Bond movie, No Time To Die, and one can see why it was chosen.

The Highland cow is the oldest registered breed of cattle in the world. They have a double coat, the shaggy, oily outer coat covers a softer, fluffier undercoat so the cows keep warm and dry in chilly, wet weather.
