Miss Story and Rhapsody are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Fall Fairground South
Roll up! Roll up! After sunset the fairground is transformed into a glittering arena of swirling lights, with a backdrop of squawks, yelps and howls from pets clinging on for dear life to the scary rollercoaster and whirling round on the fluorescently lit big wheel! The best view is of course from the top, so c'mon, everypet, and have the experience of your life! For pets preferring a gentler ride, hold on tightly to the reins while our carousel horses look after you on a circular journey under a blue starry canopy. Then it's time to indulge in candy, popcorn, gingerbread and pumpkin pie made from the fall harvest! Hopefully everypet will have enough silver moles left to buy a magnificent helium balloon to take home ...

“Um—why does everypet start yelping, howling and screeching when they start swooshing down the ride, Miss Story?” asked Sir Precious McPrance nervously.
”They’re screaming with happy excitement, Sir Precious McPrance! C’mon, let’s give it a go!”

Whilst other pets were staggering dizzily off the ride, Julia and Miss Story decided to go round again!

Your cart reaches the top of the slope and then there is a moment of calm when it pauses before it starts on its helter-skelter journey downwards -- until it hits the next climb back upwards!

"Just listen to that old fairground pipe organ, Miss Flicka!" said Miss Story. "I love the painted figures, especially the conductor keeping time at the front. You can hear the music all over the fairground!"
"It certainly adds to the atmosphere," said Miss Flicka. "Hey, the ride's about to start! Let's see if we can hear the music from the top!"

“You bet—let me just finish my ice cream!” lady lovely waited while Miss Story had the last lick of ice cream and munched the last inch of cornet, then they excitedly queued up for the ride!

Ferris wheels are named after George W. Ferris, a US engineer from Pittsburgh, who built the first one for the World Expo in Chicago in 1893. Expo visitors found unexpected excitement and novelty. Not only the Ferris wheel but the amazing new wonder that ran it—electricity—were presented for the first time in America.

Miss Story was listening enraptured to the music emerging from the nearby carousel. “My Mum used to sing this, Sassyfly!” she exclaimed excitedly. "Music allures, graceful and sweet, bidding us dance, airy and fleet—” she waltzed in a ragged circle and accidentally bumped into the carnival novelties stand. “Ooh! I’ll buy one of those while I'm here, Sassyfly!” she said.
