Charlotte and Dave are excited to find out what is in store for them in the Autumn Experience! As they enter, they each receive a free map! It reads:
Autumn in Red
Fall foliage in striking hues of red and orange will be seen all around on this tour along the riverbank. Your pet can collect pine cones, sample wild berries and currants, view beautiful plants in purple and red, and perhaps spot some exotic birdlife! Everypet will enjoy lingering on the bridge to view the peaceful scene as the sun goes down turning the river pink as it does so ...
PnF Meeting House
Before we begin the journey we need to check-in here to pick up a trail map and some travel snacks. Be sure to sign the register with how many are in your travel party and how long you plan to be on the trail. Don't forget to take a potty break before you head out!

Episode 2/25

@ Sleepy River Sunrise
Charlotte tumbled out of the Autumn Experience tourist bus, almost flattening Minerva in the process, then she wondered where the muffled groans were coming from!

The sun is just beginning to illuminate the sky, casting a warm glow on the sleepy river and the sleepy pets in the village. We begin our journey early in the cool of the day as the PnF weatherpet has predicted an unusually warm autumn day ahead.

@ Sunrise Silhouette
Charlotte tumbled out of the Autumn Experience tourist bus, almost flattening Zen in the process, then she wondered where the muffled groans were coming from!

As the sun continues to rise and the chill of the morning gives way, some of the hikers begin to shed their warm jackets and stuff them in their packs. A lone plant is dramatically silhouetted in the sun's golden light.

@ Autumn Stillness
Charlotte and soriyah agreed that the variety of scenery on their Autumn Experience trip was the best ever! They exchanged opinions on which their favourite scene had been so far, and which was the most delicious harvest food they had eaten in their travels!

As we behold the beauty of the golden leaves in the nearby trees, some clouds have rolled in, obscuring the sun for a bit. Some small fish in the river below are dining on insects that skim along the surface, creating little ripples on the calm water.

@ Orange Splendor
Charlotte and Cherry had shaken paws and took some time to enjoy the super view in a companionable silence!

The glorious colors of autumn overflow in profusion along the trail prompting a chorus of 'oohs' and 'ahs' among the travelers. We pause and stare in rapturous awe for a moment before proceeding.

@ Ginger Root
“This reminds me of Meadowlands,” observed Charlotte, musing as she and Sophia took a moment to admire the produce beside them. “Such a lovely, peaceful scene.”
Ginger Root
Ginger root is a well-known natural remedy for some common ailments. If you are prone to stomach upset and indigestion, nibbling on a small piece of raw ginger or drinking ginger tea can help alleviate your symptoms. But it is most useful on the journey as it helps your body to recover from muscle soreness after over-exertion. It will definitely come in handy today!

@ Japanese Maple in Orange
Charlotte gazed at the scene around her in awe, while Dragondrop grumbled a little about Charlotte's so-called shortcut, if his blisters were anything to go by!

An important reminder when one is out on an adventure: remember to look up! There is so much beauty around us, we don't want to miss any of it, especially when it is something as wonderful as the sun's rays filtering through the orange leaves of this Japanese Maple tree.

Arriving at such a wonderful location spurred Charlotte on to get to the next stop on the Autumn Experience. However, FLAPPY sat down, insisting on a rest and complaining of blisters!

See, glancing upward occasionally does have its benefits! As we continue along the trail we see a different variety of Japanese Maple, no less beautiful than the orange one. A treat to our eyes, this one is adorned in a fabulous crimson red.

@ Delightful Dahlia
“I’m going to ask if I can take a cutting of this,” Draco said to Charlotte. “This would look just fine in a half barrel in my front garden!”

The PnF gardener has done a fabulous job landscaping along the trail. Pots of flowers have been placed throughout to display an array of vivid autumn colors. This deep pink hued dahlia is delightful!

@ Marvelous Magenta Flower
"This is a glorious specimen, Rascal", observed Charlotte. "What a shame that in a month or so all this colour will be gone!"
"You know the best way to get colour in your garden all year, Charlotte?" said Rascal. "Buy a garden gnome!"

@ Nectar Delight
“These make a fine display, don’t they, Charlotte?” said Skye, when she and Charlotte had shaken paws.

Be still and maybe it won't see you. Look over there on that red flower. It's a Micronesian Myzomela, and I almost didn't see it as it is somewhat camouflaged by the wispy red flowers it is sipping nectar from.

@ Red Berries
"I wish I knew more about horticulture, Teeka" said Charlotte. "Sometimes I can't tell if something's a plant or a weed!"
"Oh, there's a sure-fire way of telling the difference, Charlotte! Pull on it—if it comes out of the ground easily, it's a really valuable plant.”

@ Basket of Pine Cones
Juice and Charlotte shook paws with each other and compared notes as to how their respective trips had gone so far, and which was the most delicious harvest item they had each come across.

According to the note attached to the basket, each of us is supposed to take a pine cone and plant the seeds in the designated area ahead. A park ranger will give us instructions when we get there. A pine forest covered in fresh snowfall is one of the most beautiful sights to see in winter. I'm happy to help add to that beauty!

@ Magnificent Maple
“Oh hello, Charlotte!” cried CUPID. “Didn’t we bump into each other at Crocodile Creek a while ago?”

@ Autumn Rose Bouquet
Butterfinger bent down to sniff the flower in front of her but recoiled hastily. “What’s up, Butterfinger?” asked Charlotte.
“There’s a huge bumblebee on it!” said Butterfinger.

The unmistakable fragrance of roses captures my attention as I leave the wooded area. I look down to see a beautiful arrangement of autumn-hued roses in a white ceramic pot.

@ Perfect Spot for a Campsite
Charlotte and Rosco shook paws, said “How do you do?” and posed for a souvenir photo. “Why am I always on the left?” grumbled Charlotte. “Let’s change sides.”
“No,” said Rosco. “This is my best side.”

Off in the distance across the river I see the perfect spot to pitch my tent and camp for the night.

“I’m going to try growing these at home!” announced Charlotte, after she and Snowball had tucked into some yummy organic harvest food!

“Isn’t this amazing, Batty?” declared Charlotte. “I’m seeing so many flowers and shrubs that I’ve never seen before!”

@ Shiny Redcurrant Berries
BERT and Charlotte counted out their silver moles and bought some of the harvest food. “That one wins first prize for me!” declared BERT.

Wild redcurrants can be found all over the countryside. They look temptingly sweet to eat, but these shiny red berries are usually made into redcurrant jelly because of their tartness.

@ Red and Purple Leafy Vine
"I think I'll take a cutting of the plant in that tub over there," said Charlotte. The label says it's 'vigorous' and 'fearless'."
Spearmint sniffed. "That's gardeners' talk for 'an invasive species that will take over your entire garden if permitted'!"

Growing on the side of the bridge is a mass of deep red and purple leafy vines. Deep blue berries hang in bunches just waiting to be eaten.

“I’m going to have to spend a lot of time when we get back looking up what all these flowers are!” said Charlotte to Splodge.

@ Teasels and Carnations
“My uncle grows these in his back garden,” observed Charlotte.
“Wow! He must surely have green fingers!” replied Elias.
Teasels and Carnations
Teasel weeds are a very common roadside plant. They look beautiful for being a weed, don't they? They are a favorite among crafters as they can be dried and painted any color. These lovely bi-color pink carnations pair perfectly with the purple painted teasels.

黑乐 and Charlotte shook paws and then they both admired the magnificent floral display beside them.
