Milo agreed. “D'you remember that scorpion? It was quite a shock coming across him in the light of the dim and flaring lamps, although he turned out to be very nice in the end.”
"It's hard to believe that was two years ago, Milo," remarked Hubert.

lily looked embarrassed. "That wasn't screaming. That was me, er, singing, to enable the safari guide to find me when I couldn't find my way out of that cave!"

Oceanna glanced up from her tour guide, in which she had been looking up where they were going the next day. “How come you're so hungry, Hubert?”
Hubert pouted. "I was just unwrapping my lunch pack when a creature ran down the tree behind me, grabbed the lot and shot back up the tree!"
"Bad luck!" sympathised Oceanna. "Here, have a banana to keep you going."

“I’ve written a postcard to my aunty to tell her about our amazing safari!” said Hubert. “She’ll wish she was here! Where’s the nearest postbox?”
Sweetie shielded her eyes and rotated 360°, elaborately scanning the horizon. “I don’t think they’ve thought to provide a postbox here, Hubert. How remiss of them!” Seeing Hubert’s ears beginning to droop, Sweetie added, “Don’t worry, you can give your card to reception at the hotel to post.”

Well, not just an ordinary cicada, I'm a Canthgaster Cicada! Look at me with my nose in the air, why, some might think I'm a bit stuffy! But honestly, I'm just following my nose to the best eating spots!

“Did you see what happened to Foxy earlier, Ms Stinkerbelle?” exclaimed Hubert. "He was balancing on a log trying to take a selfie with one of the critters we met, and it rolled over and pitched him into a bank of nettles!"
Ms Stinkerbelle joined in Hubert's heartless laughter. “He was still brushing bits of nettle out of his fur when we went for lunch!”

My brilliant plumage has also earned me the nickname of Rainbow Pheasant, and my gorgeous array of feathers originally hailed from China, but you'll find that we were a desired export, and have adapted well to other places!

Nocturnal by nature, you'll find me hiding by day in the dark leafy greens in your garden. We tried to ramp up our street cred by saying we were vampires, but we lacked the fangs to back up the claim.

Hubert good-naturedly took charge of Stella's possessions while she emptied her rucksack of a pack of sandwiches wrapped in greaseproof paper, a Thermos flask, a pair of galoshes, a bag of chocolate peanuts, a paperback thriller, a bottle of orange squash, an address book, some postage stamps, an assortment of different coloured biros, a bottle opener, a couple of old bus tickets, a handful of golden and silver moles, a door key, some very old receipts, a screwdriver, a bottle of multivitamins, a lottery ticket and a selection of rather battered sachets of salt, sugar and salad cream before locating the scarf right at the bottom. This she donned and then Hubert helped her put everything back in her rucksack.

Somewhere there's a blue anteater hanging around with a pink panther, but that's now who I am, although, I really do love ants! You'll find me in the rainforest, slurping up ants like a pro!
