When you think of a Griffin you may think of a mythical beast that is quite terrifying and guards treasures. I don’t believe I would terrify anyone, I am far too pink and cute. Instead of standing around guarding things, which sounds so dreadfully boring, I think it would be much better if we played some games and enjoyed some tasty snacks.

I’m not blue, but you may be if you touch me. Tiny, I am so tiny, only about 2 to 1.8 inches (3-4.5 cm). I am a vibrant blue with black spots so I am not easy to miss. Yes, I am poisonous to the touch and that is bad news, but there is good news. If you want to have me in your life, it is simple, provide me a home, and feed me crickets and fruit flies.

The poison comes from the insects I eat out in the wild and those insects have been nibbling on poisonous plants, so if you don’t feed me those types of insects I will be safe to have as a friend. This might be the start of a never-blue friendship.

Hummmm… Bzzzzzzzz… If you are outside cat-napping on the porch and hear what sounds a bit like a bumblebee, have no fear; it’s only a little hummingbird. I’ve just stopped by to have a few sips of the perfectly sweetened sugar-water in the feeder. Thank you for not putting any coloring in it. I prefer it that way; nectar in flowers is clear and it is better for my health to have a natural diet. Due to the rapid beating of my wings I am in constant need of sugar for energy and I have the unique ability to turn nectar into fuel within thirty minutes.
I like my sugar-water to be clear but that doesn’t mean I don’t like color in other places, like my beautiful feathers. My exotic coloring is in vibrant shades of indigo, ranging from vivid blue to ultraviolet, and is accented by my stunning teal tail feathers. And I just love the way my feathers look iridescent in the sunlight. My beauty goes much deeper though. I am a very thankful bird and I will remember where your feeder is after my long migratory flight back from Central America. I will stay in your yard all summer and even bring my babies to see you and show them how nice you are.

Tip-ta-tap. Tip-ta-tap. What’s that sound? Let’s crawl through these bushes and have a look. It’s the elusive Scottish Wildcat, and he’s. . . . dancing? He has adapted Scottish reels and jigs to a four-footed pattern. Look at his paws move. What mastery of the steps he has. Feet flying, flicking fast, fleet and fine. How does he have bagpipe music in this remote highland forest? Good heavens, he has a solar-powered radio. How clever! Now he is doing acrobatic flips in the air, still keeping perfect time to the music. When he lands on his feet, he doesn’t miss a beat. Maybe if we ask him, the Scottish Wildcat will tell us what fills him with such exuberant joy that he can’t stop dancing.

Neither black nor white but every shade in between this kitten is certain to capture the hearts of all. Stunning emerald eyes complimented by a pink jelly bean nose and cheeks that beg for a little pinch what is not to love? If you ask kindly perhaps you will even get to see the most adorable toe beans that have ever crossed PnF. Deep yet gentle purrs command to be taken home. Won’t you take me home? Purrrrty please?
