When making a nest, a site is chosen away from the water edge, and a small scape is created and lined with shells or small pebbles. After the chicks hatch, they can feed themselves within hours, and the adult’s role is to protect them from the elements by brooding them. The sandy colouring of the chicks means they are less likely to be spotted in the sand. If danger threatens, the adult Plovers will pretend to have a broken wing to bring attention to themselves and lead the predator away from the chicks. When the chicks can fly 50 yards (46 m) when they are around a month old, they are independent.

Is this bunny contemplating the day ahead, or maybe it is thinking about what lays beyond the waves. Rabbits have good long-distance vision and excellent—near 360 degree—vision around their body. A rabbit's ears are capable of being rotated 270 degrees, and they can hear a wider range of sounds than humans.

Skylands is a 1,119-acre estate located in Ringwood State Park, New Jersey. The estate consists of Skylands Manor, The Castle at Skylands Manor and the New Jersey Botanical Garden. The house and gardens were built in the 1920s by Clarence MacKenzie Lewis, a New York City stockbroker and civil engineer. architect John Russel Pope, who designed the National Archives and Records Administration, in Washington D.C. was asked to design the 44-room Tudor revival house. The estate was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 28, 1990.

A closer look at a narrow street in Cumalikizik. The sides of the cobblestone street are slightly sloped toward the center to allow rainwater and wastewater to run down the middle. Notice the solid walls of the houses—built using rough-cut stone in irregular shapes. These beautiful buildings were built around 1300, at the formation of the Ottoman Empire. A popular tourist destination, this 700-year-old village is one of the oldest of its kind. Interestingly most of the houses are lived in by locals.

Connecting Kattegat and Jutland is a bridge proposal, but in the meantime, there are small bridges you can visit when out on the peninsula.

This old farm homestead, typical of many found in Oslo, Norway countrysides is one of 160 buildings on display at one of the world's oldest and largest open-air museums, the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History. This open-air museum focuses on the time period from 1500 until the present time but also has a stave church from 1200. Indoor exhibits feature Norwegian folk costumes, folk art, church art, toys, and Sami culture.

The photograph was taken near the old mining road to Storwartz Mine in Norway. The Storwartz area had nine mines operating from 1645 to 1972 and was one of Røros Copper Works' most important mining areas.

The first inner wall was built at the end of the 14-15 century and the most recent outer wall in the 15-16 centuries. Demolition on the younger wall started in 1600 and today no trace of the wall is found above ground. However, some of the old walls can be seen in the Museum of Medieval Stockholm.

Traditional roofs in Nordic countries were wood or turf. Much depends on the tools available at the time as to what type of roof is used. The axe was one of the first tools used, planes, saws etc. did not come until late 1800-1900. Roofs made of wood can with maintenance last decades even centuries.

Slot is the Danish word for castle or country house. This image shows some detail of the brickwork and stonework on the restored medieval castle wall. King Eric V. Klipping signed the first Danish constitution in 1282.
