The first night of Hanukkah ~ The first candle
Debbie James Several years ago my husband and I read a devotion about the significance of observing Hanukkah as a Christian. Since Jesus was Jewish, we thought it would be interesting. I will post each evening's devotion for any who wish to experience it with us. (scroll down)
The first candle: The one true God. Shema means hear. Sh'ma Yisrael, Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai Echad! Hear O Yisrael! This passage proclaims the very uniqueness of God. Read the Shema proclamation not only in Deuteronomy 6:4-5, but also as found in Mark 12:29-34.
