On the first day of snow in PnF Land, Scaredy Cat and his service dog were out and about enjoying the beauty of it. Scaredy was thinking to himself how thankful he was for being able to make snow pets with carrot noses; in fact, he was thankful for many, many things as he was walking in silence with his beloved dog by his side. He was thankful for milk and fish and for all his friends, he was thankful for not being quite as scared as he used to be as a kitten….

Scaredy and the dog suddenly realized they had walked farther than they had intended. They looked around and saw a strange little mole on a frozen molehill. It shouted out to them: “Who goes there? Who dares to trespass on Holy Moley’s property? Are you worshippers? Or perhaps wormies? You’d better not be icky flyers!”

Oh, no, Scaredy had heard stories about that mole. Holy Moley was known in PnF as the self-centered, stingy and bad-tempered mole with delusions of grandeur, whom you had better not get stuck talking to, because he would bore you to death with anecdotes of his (unconfirmed) accomplishments and tales of detailed wormie diggings. Moley kept yelling to them: “Come closer, so I can see you while you bow to me. I will reward your loyalty by telling you about my extremely excellent wormie digging skills!”

Oh, dear! Scaredy’s service dog made Scaredy get on its back and grab its collar, and then it ran as fast as it could. When they got back home, they both laughed and laughed and they were so thankful, they had not been forced to listen to Holy Moley’s self-praising this time!

This week we want to know what you and/or your pet(s) are thankful for. It’s Thanksgiving in the US, but you can be thankful anywhere in the world. So show us what you appreciate the most. Are you thankful for your family? For chocolate? Friends? Warm clothes in the winter? Generosity?
