Spring is around the corner where Scaredy Cat lives and he, along with some of his friends, are out in the back garden, getting ready to plant some flowers to celebrate. They learned in school that "Plant a Flower Day" is approaching and the teacher gave all the students packets of seeds and even some seedlings. They learned that there are hundreds of thousands of flower varieties and that there are many uses for flowers. Not only are they used for decorative purposes, but can be used in ceremonies and even for medicinal reasons. All Scaredy Cat knows is that many flowers are very pretty and some even smell quite nice. If his flower grows well, he plans to give it to his teacher as a little gift for being a good teacher.

This week we're celebrating "Plant a Flower Day"! At one time, a pet could purchase a new home and pay for it with tulips - can you imagine how many tulips your pet would need to do that today? How can you and your pet celebrate this lovely occasion? Obviously the top thing to do would be plant some! What kind of flowers would you plant? Another way you can celebrate is to purchase some flower seeds and donate them to a local community garden. Why not take your pups and cubs to a local garden shop and have the shop owner explain how to grow their own flowers. Spend some time outdoors and plant a few seeds to make your walkway bloom in color. If it's cold where you are, why not get a couple of indoor flower pots and plant some flowers in them to brighten up those cold, dreary days? Let's add some color to our planet and plant a flower (or two) today!!
