Scaredy Cat is at the rec center with some of his friends and neighbors for a special art class taking place this afternoon. They are working with jewels and gems of all sorts of shapes, sizes and colors to celebrate National Jewel Day, coming up on March 13th. The pets are encouraged to examine the various jewels on display in the main conference room before they begin working on their own personal jewel projects. Scaredy Cat decides that he's going to use different gems and jewels in shades of pink to make a new jewelled collar for his little sister Skittles because she's beginning to turn into a lovely female feline who definitely acts very lady-like. Of course, Bob, being Bob, is creating havoc and has managed to overturn his bowl of jewels, causing them to scatter all over the floor, which causes the grumpy panda cub to be even grumpier than usual. Oh Bob, what will we do with you???

March 13th is National Jewel Day and this week, we're challenging you to create art and scenes using the many jewels and gems we have available. What sort of things can you come up with using gems and jewels? Besides making jewelry, maybe you can make a painting with some shiny flowers using colorful gems. We've heard that "diamond painting" is one of the newest things in arts and crafts - maybe you are into that? Maybe you want to jazz up a small part of the wall in your bedroom to make it shine and glitter in the sunlight. Or just add some bling to your cell phone's cover? You can decorate your t-shirt with gems and jewels to make it look like it came from a high-end fashion shop! Whatever you come up with, we bet it'll be a gem of an idea!!
