Earth Day 2020 is here and Scaredy Cat and Bob have decided that they want to take part in celebrating it together (but while practicing social distancing). They have done some research and have found some things that they can do to take part while still being fairly young pets. Scaredy Cat is collecting items found on the side of the road that can be recycled as well as items that can be put into a rubbish bin. And Bob is planting some colorful flowers outside the gate to attraact butterflies and hummingbirds. Looks like he's doing a good job! It seems that celebrating Earth Day is a good thing to do for both the pets and the environment! Way to go Scaredy Cat and Bob!! Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, it now includes events coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network in more than 193 countries. How can you and your pet take part in this important day? Here's some ideas for you and your pet to think about: Leave your car at home if possible - ride your bike if your destination is close by. Plant something! If you've got a green thumb, try planting some vegetables and fresh herbs! Go outside and exercise! Take a leisurely walk around your neighborhood. Did you know that walking can boost your energy, lift your spirits, and even help you think creatively? Create an animal friendly oasis - hang some bird feeders (or even build your own). Plant some flowers and bushes that will attract butterflies and even hummingbirds. At the same time, it will make your yard/garden look quite pretty!
