Button Week

lisa
It's been a rainy week and Scaredy Cat and Bob have decided that they would go to the rec center just so that they wouldn't have to be cooped up in the house for one more moment. They received a flyer announcing that there was a special craft session being held where the featured craft item was going to be buttons. Scaredy Cat found a small box in the attic with assorted buttons of varying shapes, sizes and colors and brought them to show the instructor. When they arrived, they saw that the instructor had put up a couple of examples of how buttons could be used in crafting. There was a sweater with snowflake-shaped buttons going down the front of it. Alongside the sweater was a shirt that was enhanced with a lovely necklace, made only from blue shiny buttons. To participate, Scaredy Cat stitched a few red buttons on his collar - he thought they made him look trendy (if that is such a thing amongst cats). And while he was working on creating a necklace for his sister using brightly-colored buttons, Bob was glueing some buttons onto a black canvas into some sort of two-toned pattern. Scaredy Cat wasn't sure what he was more impressed with - Bob's craft project or that Bob has actually kept his work area clean! National Button Week is coming! From August 2-8, pets and hoomans actually celebrate all things buttons!! Everypet knows somepet that has a jar or tin filled with buttons tucked away somewhere. Whether they are a collection started by your great-aunt Bessie or you actually have an interest in buttons, each collection will be unique in its own way. Buttons have been admired and collected for centuries! Buttons can be made from a wide variety of materials - from plastic to wood to enamel to glass and much more! They can be plain or elaborately decorative. Buttons adorn clothing, are worn as jewelry or fashion accessories. They may adorn hand-knitted scarves and hats. And there's even "buttons" inside of elevators!! Do you know of any phrases that use the word "button"? I'm sure that "button your lip" is one that is familiar to many of you! Look around your home - there are buttons on "regular" household items such as the TV remote and on your microwave oven. Let's see those buttons shine this week!! Here's the basics: *Your submission MUST be related to the theme. *You must submit your art to the PnF art gallery - only entries there will be counted. * Put “Button Week” in the title or description * The entry with the most votes will be declared the winner. * To vote, click the "vote" button - you may vote for as many entries as you want * Voting will be open immediately * This challenge will be open from now until around 12:00am GMT August 4th (around 8:00pm Tuesday night in the USA).
