Nursery Rhymes

lisa
Scaredy Cat is having a very strange dream. He can hear Bob reciting a nursery rhyme and somehow, he has become a part of that children's nursery rhyme and he's not sure how this has happened.
Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle
The cow jumped over the moon
The little dog laughed to see such a sight
And the dish ran away with the spoon!

As Bob repeatedly reads this over and over, Scaredy Cat takes notice that while most of the characters seem to be as what is said in the rhyme, instead of the dog, one of the escaped aye-ayes is there, rolling on the ground, laughing hysterically. He also can't help but wonder how he's supposed to play this fiddle. He's never taken any lessons so as far as he knows, he wouldn't be any good at this. He wishes he could wake up from this bizarre dream. If he wakes up, he'll know that he's safe at home in his bed with JJ sound asleep on the floor nearby.

Nursery rhymes! We're going to explore the fun little songs and poems that we learned when we were small pets and hoomans. Some of them are very cute and sweet while others are strange and a bit bizarre. Often you'd learn them by singing the words and using hand motions to "act out" what the song is about. Remember "Itsy Bitsy Spider"? As you were singing, you'd use your fingers to be the spider crawling up a water spout and then they'd be wiggling like rain falling down. When you'd sing "If You're Happy and You Know It", you'd clap your hands or stomp your feet/paws or nod your head. Scaredy Cat's hooman learned this song in both French and English (her native language) and when she sang it in school, they'd sing it in both languages. Here's the French version:
Frère Jacques
Frère Jacques, frère Jacques,
Dormez-vous? Dormez-vous?
Sonnez les matines! Sonnez les matines!
Ding, dang, dong. Ding, dang, dong

And here's the English version:
Brother John
Are you sleeping? Are you sleeping?
Brother John, Brother John!
Morning bells are ringing!
Morning bells are ringing!
Ding, ding, dong.
Ding, ding, dong.

Anyhow....this week we'll be reliving those fun little songs and hopefully they'll bring back some fond memories as you think of them!!
