At the Perfectly Excellent Space Koala Yurt (PESKY), Scaredy Cat and his service dog, JJ, saw something strange. That dreadful and unpleasant Holy Moley mole was sitting inside a huge, purple space rocket looking all arrogant and snooty as usual. Holy Moley waved Scaredy Cat over and stuck his head out to speak at him. “Oh, good! Of course, one of my subjects is honored to join me in this fine vehicle, get in kitty! You’ll be worshipping me into outer space! We shall go look for squooshies on the runaway asteroid!”
Scaredy Cat was a little reluctant to fly into space, but he certainly didn’t want to make Moley angry, and also, wouldn’t it be sort of exciting to see PnF from outer space? So, he and JJ hopped on the space craft and buckled up for the ride.
Thousands and thousands of miles from PnF Land they found the runaway asteroid. Holy Moley, of course, took all the credit for finding it and also for spotting the squooshies through Scaredy Cat’s eyes: “Ah, yes, now that I have outstandingly navigated us through all this dangerous space and I have found these squooshie thingies, you may all bow down and kiss my feet. You may also serve me an excellent wormie!”
Scaredy Cat and the crew did NOT do that, but they did enjoy looking at the cute little squooshies and all the planets.
The first Friday in May is International Space Day. Every year young pets around the world and in PnF Land explore the wonders of science, engineering, technology and mathematics. Scaredy Cat had learned so much from his trip, and he decided to study more math and science once he was back in PnF Land. How will you and your pet celebrate Space Day this year? Will you look through a telescope and see the stars? Or perhaps have a star named after you? Will you teach thrilling math to the kids of your neighborhood? Will you visit a planetarium or jump on the next space shuttle? Will you learn about white dwarves and black holes? Maybe you will create your own little solar systems and galaxies? Scaredy Cat and JJ look very much forward to seeing all the wonderful images you create for this week’s challenge.
