Scaredy Cat and Bob are at the rec center for a special event. August 26th is Dog Day and the pets are all excited to attend this occasion while showing off their beloved dogs. This "holiday" was started by a lovely hooman to celebrate dogs of all breeds, whether mixed or pure. The date was chosen by this hooman to mark the day that she adopted her first canine friend. Scaredy Cat has his beloved JJ, the support dog that has been by his side for a couple of years. He looks around the room at the many different dogs in the room while Bob is telling anyone who will listen (he's loud - so they have to listen) about his three-headed dog, Fluffy, who was named after another three-headed dog from a famous movie that he really likes. The only thing that could potentially get louder than Bob is the level of barking as more pets and their dogs enter the rec center. Will Scaredy Cat survive the noise? This week's theme is going to the dogs!! But not in a bad way! August 26th is Dog Day - a day to honor and celebrate dogs! One purpose for Dog Day is to raise awareness of just how many dogs need to be rescued from shelters and rescue groups. Another reason is to honor family dogs and dogs that work selflessly to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort. Even providing companionship to hoomans is something awesome to celebrate. Celebrating Dog Day can be as easy as giving your four-legged friend a big hug and kiss (if they like that sort of affection)! But some other ways you can celebrate - head to the local animal shelter or rescue and adopt a dog or volunteer to help out! Donate blankets and food to an animal welfare organization. Have a dog day party and take photos of your canine friend! Watch a movie about a dog! How will you celebrate Dog Day? I'm sure you'll find plenty of ways to honor the dog in your or your pet's life!!
