It is a pleasure to meet you.
[desc=0] Salutations, and welcome to my humble abode.

My name is Storia Chie, you may call me "Storia" for short. I have traveled far from my first home, a Grove not far from Frank's first Bacon Bush, where I grew up the oldest of 108 brothers and sisters. I love history, learning what was once hidden, and sharing what I have learned with others.

I am proud to have been asked to become PnF's official Historian. I will do my very best to record PnF history as it happens, and to teach all of you what has come before us. To start, let me share a bit about my own history.

Image 2 Date: 2016-10-14 04:02:43

The Grove
[desc=0] The tale begins in an ever-bearing Grove, far far away, across a sea, to somewhere unknown to here. My family's Clan had lived in this Grove for many generations, eventually losing the Grove's original name, and just calling it "Grove".

It was a troubling time, when animals would hunt one another. My Clan had much to give, and willingly welcomed herbivores of all shapes and sizes as the struggle for sustainable food became harsher to all walks of life.

Eventually our Grove could not support all those seeking refuge. We volunteered to leave, to allow those who came after us to keep what remained of the sanctuary of the Grove. This time of exploration to find a new Grove became known as the Journey.

Image 3 Date: 2016-10-14 18:46:15

The Journey
[desc=0] We had no idea how far we would have to travel, but we did our best to keep hidden, carrying twigs, leaves, and small rocks on our backs to keep hidden from predators larger than us. We crossed cold mountain passes, treacherous bodies of water, and a very pleasant flower field which was unfortunately already overpopulated.

After traveling across course sands at a Caterpillar's pace for many moons, a new land emerged. The stars became unfamiliar to us, the whole sky seemed to have changed. The moon rose in different colours, and the trees starting taking on strange colours and shapes. This new land was different, but still seemed able to support our numbers and many more.

Image 4 Date: 2016-10-17 05:55:32

A Strange New Land
[desc=0] Traveling this new land, we saw many creatures unknown to us - including a strange pair of horses with horns (one green and one blue), who seemed to argue consistently. Spotting a cluster of trees close at hand, we crossed the path of the horses with horns, and they insisted on arguing over what creatures we were and what we were doing. Ignoring them, we focused only on the trees growing ever closer...

Image 5 Date: 2016-10-17 06:07:27

The New Grove
[desc=0] When we entered the cluster of trees we found a small number of Caterpillars and a few other small creatures living there. My Clan began to introduce themselves, planning to tell their story, when they were silenced by a very large and very old Caterpillar. All others in the tree-encircled clearing became silent as well. The old Caterpillar seemed revered by all others in this space.

The old Caterpillar told us she cared not of our story. As long as we meant those within her Grove no harm, we were welcome to live with them, for they had plenty of room and food to share. We celebrated our new Grove, the generosity of those we had encountered, and hoped those we had left behind were faring well.

Image 6 Date: 2016-10-17 06:25:13

The Bacon Bush
[desc=0] After a few short, blissful weeks, we began wondering how long this peace would last. Larger creatures got hungry, and would look for smaller creatures, like ourselves, to satiate that hunger. Then one day we overheard an interesting discussion, between a frightened pig and the two horses with horns (which we now knew were called 'unicorns') we had crossed paths with before.

Amazingly, my clan witnessed the creation of Frank's first Bacon Bush. My clan had learned from others in the Grove the issue of food plagued this land as well. They knew this bush growing bacon was the beginning to helping curb the issue at hand, to help even out life for all.

Metamorphosis and Names
[desc=0] But more on that later...

As you may know, most Caterpillars enter a stage of metamorphosis, where we wrap ourselves in a cocoon, to become Butterflies. This stage of life created a tradition in many Caterpillar Clans, of the Given and True Names. A Caterpillar has a temporary name, their Given Name, assigned to them by their parents at birth, and when they undergo their transformation many choose a new name - their True Name - for themselves.

Image 8 Date: 2016-10-17 07:06:23

A Calling
[desc=0] But, here in PnF, not all of us had to follow this path anymore - so where did that leave the rest of us?

With this change in our nature, our tradition changed as well to include those of us who chose not to transform. It became known as a "Calling" - the time in a Caterpillar's life when they discover what they want to do with their life. At this time, they may choose their True Name. Not all Caterpillars take a new name. Some declare their Given Name as their True Name.

But many Caterpillars, such as myself, do.

Image 9 Date: 2016-10-17 07:35:09

Story Telling
[desc=0] I was born long after we had moved to the new Grove, long after the revered old Caterpillar had passed on, but not long after Frank's Bacon Bush company became the Frank 'n' Swine Foods enterprise it is today.

Before I discovered my Calling, my name was Forget-Me-Not. With 108 younger siblings, I'm surprised others were not named similarly. My Calling reached me many years before I knew what it was. I loved to recite our Clan's history to those who would listen - those younger than I, eager to learn more of their history and culture, and those older than I, who enjoyed hearing their own stories being told with reverence.

The Clan's memories being carried on by a younger generation brought smiles to all in our Grove. I always loved history - of our Clan, of the Grove we came from, the Grove we traveled to, and of the outside world...

Image 10 Date: 2016-10-17 07:58:57

The Assembly
[desc=0] One day it just hit me - history. This is what I am meant to do.

I gathered all in the Grove, a giant Assembly which had become common when a Caterpillar claimed their True Name. I claimed my True Name, and made a startling announcement - I would leave the Grove to learn this history of those outside of it. I vowed always to remember, to forget-them-not.

I became Storia Chie, taking the words 'history' and 'wisdom' from two strange foreign languages we overheard from some of the crew of Mole's exciting pirate voyages. I left my home and began my journey.

Image 11 Date: 2016-10-17 08:00:55

My Mission
[desc=0] Though I miss my Clan often, I never regret leaving my humble beginnings to pursue my passion.

I have traveled much and learned far more than I ever imagined. I journaled, tracking all I was taught, and now I have begun placing all these stories in chronological order - which can be very difficult since not all pets count time in the same way!

I hope you visit often, I would love to share all of our history with you. THE END (of my very first history lesson!)

PnF Election 2016: We interrupt our current history lesson for the following news...
[desc=0] Storia Chie has decided to participate in the 2016 PnF Election Campaign.

Her campaign is already being supported by many of the other small creatures of PnF. A vote for Storia Chie is a vote for a better tomorrow! (And lots of tasty leaves.)

Image 13 Date: 2016-11-02 00:31:46

PnF Election 2016: Meet the Cabinet
[desc=0] Storia's campaign managers are giving her advice on what to do now. Being among the smaller competitors in this game can be tough, but Storia knows if Joy and Flounder can make names for themselves, then so can she.

Together they break down the competition's slogans, looking for a way ahead. Despite the competition, Storia believed heavily in her stances:
-Fair treatment for all creatures
-Kindness for all creatures
-Better representation of all creatures
-Proper accountability of those who have done harm
-Sharing of free knowledge
-Easy access to leaves

Storia knew Frank would have an issue with anything labeled 'free', but hoped his greed had not been passed to his nephew, Cupig. She still didn't know much of the other candidates. She knew Bob loved chocolate and was very nervous, MIT was very honest and believed in some of the same standpoints she did, Joy delivered gifts anonymously and loved all things purple, Flounder often had trouble and questions, and Skeezle was a top-notch detective...but none of that would help her campaign.

Bertrand and Stuart came up with a solution: Ignore the other candidates, and do what they would not. It all seemed a little dicey to Storia. She tried to argue the other candidates knew the election was more for fun and shouldn't be taken too seriously. They disagreed. She did ask them to help her, so maybe she should take their advice....

Leaving the Campaign room, Storia could remember Bertrand's words clearly...."Step 1 was obvious and easy, get your name and face out there. Step 2 will be a little more difficult."

"You need to share your platform of free knowledge, easy access to leaves, and better representation of all PnF creatures to the mosses," Stuart elaborated.

"You mean the 'masses'," Storia corrected.

"No," Stuart countered. "The mosses..."

PnF Election 2016: River, Slime, and Moss: The Forgotten Rocks
[desc=0] Though bewildered at first, Storia warmed up to the idea, though she wasn't certain how well it would go. She ventured where few pets often do, to the homes of the more unusual creatures who call PnF home.

Storia's plan was to travel far in the short amount of time she had, hoping to gain support from those she visited. The worry some would not be as welcoming as others weighed heavily on her.

The forgotten Rocks were her first stop. She had to tread carefully, the slime and moss surrounding their river was very slippery. The Rocks were surprised, but grateful, to be recognized and distinguished between the less enlightened rocks around them. They listened eagerly to Storia's words, remaining silent until long after she finished.

Storia grew nervous as their silence continued. Just as she was considering leaving them alone, an unseen Rock began to speak in a low, gravelly rumble. The Rock shared some of their history with Storia, some of their secrets which they claimed need no longer be kept.

Storia promised them to one day help share their story with the other pets of PnF. When it came time to move on, she knew their support for her campaign was rock solid.

Image 15 Date: 2016-11-02 01:07:04

PnF Election 2016: Up Above The World So High: Haughty Clouds
[desc=0] Storia's next stop was difficult. She never liked flying, but rented a hot air balloon anyway, knowing the Clouds could carry her message far and wide with very little effort on their behalf.

She had to speak less loudly than she thought, her little voice carrying far in the open air. Some of the Clouds were interested in what Storia had to say, some believed her words to be below them, and still others caused mischief. Some Clouds were so terrible they blew her campaign flag away!

Storia would not back down. The more mischievous Clouds did not like her attitude, and started blowing her hot air balloon around. She gripped her little basket as tightly as she could, closing her eyes, trying not to fear the worst. Some of the older, larger Clouds helped settle her balloon, scolding those who had tried to harm her.

Storia won at least a few of them to her side, and with their aid she both learned some of their bizarre history, and made it safely back to the ground, where her next challenge awaited.

Image 16 Date: 2016-11-02 01:26:27

PnF Election 2016: Storms of Legend: The Dangerous Tornad'ohs
[desc=0] Some Rocks and Clouds followed Storia on her journey. The Clouds warned her the next stop would be dangerous, and they would have to remain behind or be swept far away. The Rocks promised to help anchor her, to keep her safe.

The wind roared as the area's inhabitants grew closer, and grew they did indeed. Growing in size with each gust of wind. The Rocks surround Storia, helping to keep her from flying away. The Tornad'ohs certainly seemed to have earned their title of 'dangerous'.

How the Tornad'oh representative heard her over the deafening winds, the pounding rain, she never knew. She was convinced the foliage in the area wasn't real, as no leaf, tree, or bush she knew of could withstand the constant wind.

In the end, she learned much, including how most of the Tornad'ohs were just full of hot air, and actually very friendly. The tough winds which accompanied them everywhere often kept other pets at bay. They admired the courage of one so little, risking so much to visit them.

As a parting gift of their support, some of the smallest Tornad'ohs were sent with Storia to her next stop on the campaign trail.

PnF Election 2016: Candy and Kitties and Bombs, Oh My!
[desc=0] Storia's next exploits took her through even stranger lands.

Jellybean Hills, where she conversed with the candy creatures, who despite Frank's food bushes, were still regularly concerned of being consumed by other pets. Storia promised them they had nothing to fear. No animal in PnF had eaten another in quite a long time, and with Frank's bushes going no where, they were far safer than they feared. It took quite a lot of talking, but she eventually rallied their support.

The journey from Jellybean Hills to the Petarctica Vista took far less time than expected, but finding the inhabitants proved more of a challenge. The Tundra helped to hide those she was trying to find, even more than the natural homes of the Rocks and Clouds helped to hide them. She quickly learned several of her competitors had already visited them, gaining support in this area. Storia wished she had come here sooner... Eventually she found a few inhabitants who were willing to listen to her. Storia felt she was turning bluer than usual in the fierce cold, but continued on.

The world went dark.

Storia woke with a start, surrounded by her new supporters. She was very cold, despite laying next to a roaring fire....Was it a fire? No! It was a bomb! Fear taking hold, she shrieked, and tried to run, but her little legs would not work. Was it all a trick? Did none of them really support her? Were they just working for the competition, paid to get her out of the way? She stopped trying to run when she heard tears.

"I told you it would be no different!" the little Bomb cried. "Everyone preaches about fairness, but whenever they see a Bomb they run, afraid we're going to hurt them!" Storia scolded herself for jumping to conclusions. She noticed the Tundra creatures just outside the circle of light the Bomb was emitting. Were they waiting to see what she would do? What did they think of her first reaction? Maybe they were waiting to see how she would react now that she was aware of what was really happening?

Storia stood as best she could, her legs still very cold. "I am sorry little Bomb, I did not mean to upset you. I did not realize who you were or what was happening. My actions shame me." She looked up to those encircling her, those she had recruited with talk of representation, kindness, fair treatment, accountability. "I have failed all of you just now. I gave this Bomb no fair treatment, I showed no kindness. I give you no excuses, I hold myself accountable for my actions. I understand if you no longer wish to support me, and I ask your forgiveness." Storia turned to face the Bomb, "I especially seek forgiveness from you, for reacting in an inappropriate manner to your appearance."

Storia shuffled away, as best she could, the crowd of former-supporters watching her. An unlit Bomb rolled across her path. Looking up she saw many others behind as well. "Anyone can preach what you have said you stand for," the Bomb in front of Storia began, "but to recognize when you are wrong, and to hold yourself to the same standard as you hold others, is a true mark of leadership."

The lit Bomb she mistook as dangerous rolled forward. "My mother teaches forgiveness. If she can forgive you, so can I."

Storia succumbed to tears. The creatures from Petarctica Vista stepped forward, a Fox with an amazingly sparkly coat spoke, "For the honesty and true belief in your cause you have shown through your actions, you have our support." The crowd around Storia waited until she was recovered, until she was ready, before they continued on to the last of her planned stops.

Fire Mountain proved a challenge, Clouds and Tornad'ohs scared the inhabitants away, the Candy creatures and Tundra beings began melting... The rocks fared no better, starting jokes about being better help in a spa. Storia traveled alone for hours, stopping frequently for breaks. As she descended farther into the valley, the temperature began to drop, the fog thickened. She heard distant laughter...

"Who's there?" her tiny voice cried out. The laughter continued. "I'm not afraid of you! I came here to speak with you!" The laughter died out. Ghostly figures could be seen in glimpses behind the trees. At least, Storia thought she saw glimpses. The fog was thick, making it difficult to see very far. "I need to know you're there, I don't want to waste my time or yours."

Small misty shapes of cats and kittens began appearing, in various shades of green, blue, and grey. They listened intently to Storia - the story of her travels thus far, of her campaign of fair treatment, kindness for all, better representation, proper accountability, free knowledge, and easy access to leaves. Most importantly, of her time in the Petarctica Vista, when she proved her campaign was more than just words. When she finished her speech, the kitties disappeared again, fading back into the thick mist.

Expecting the worst, to have failed in gaining their support after coming so far, Storia journeyed alone out of the valley. The forest was silent, no bug, no bird, no wind. Simply silence. Just as she reached the edge of the thick woods, where her supporters were awaiting her, she heard a melodious tune, filled with a haunting rise and fall of ethereal purrs.

Storia knew her voice had been heard, she had the support of the Kitties in the Mist.

She traveled with her new friends back her campaign office, but a surprise was awaiting her...

PnF Election 2016: Promises and Support, Win or Lose
[desc=0] Storia could hardly believe her eyes when she made it back home, to her campaign office. The Clouds had done as promised, and helped to spread word of her campaign far and wide. The field outside her home was filled further than she could see, though she noticed a distinct absence of most purple creatures.

She appreciated her journey, all she learned, and the friends she made. If not for the election and her cabinet encouraging her, she never would have traveled and met the pets she had.

Storia pledged to everyone gathered: even if she did not win, she would still hold true to her campaign, her promises to share the new history she learned, and to remain true to her friends - new and old.

PnF Election 2016: Congratulations Joy!
[desc=0] Storia is no sore loser. She knows Joy received the popular vote, and it is respected. Congratulations Joy!

Storia also thanks all of her supporters, and wants them to know even though she was not elected, she WILL keep her campaign promises.

Image 20 Date: 2016-12-12 05:07:43

Gearing up
[desc=0] I am so very excited to celebrate my very first Christmas as part of the PnF team! But I'm not quite sure how to get all these decorations put up or where to put them all...I've never been good at decorating!

Do you think if I call my new friends they will help me? Who do you think I should ask for help?

Image 21 Date: 2016-12-20 04:37:38

Decorating
[desc=0] Joy has come over to help me with decorating, which is such a relief - I hate having to carry so many items up the tree to hang them!

New Year's Party - Storia's Perspective
[desc=0] Storia looks around the room, her mind wandering from the enthralling discussion she is having with Boris and Joy about small-creature issues. The New Year's Party seems to be getting a little crazier than expected.

She see the shy troll, Hubert, is trying to keep out of the ruckus everyone else is causing. He's keeping hidden back in the corner with his friend Dexter, who seldom makes it out to these sorts of occasions.

N2P2C2 and Gwinn don't even notice what anyone else is doing - they're having a blast dancing to some stellar new music sung by Billy and produced by N2P2C2! While Billy is belting out his new tune, Gwinn is trying to teach N2P2C2 to dance, but his legs just won't cooperate.

Bob's complaining, but Flounder just can't figure out what Bob is so upset about. Bob just keeps repeating himself, talking about some cake he was going to bring mysteriously disappearing and he wants Skeezle's help. Though Flounder's fairly certain he doesn't need a detective to recognize cake crumbs.

MIT tries to take shelter in the next room, but Della and Basil block his way, telling him the light is far too bright since someone stole the lampshade! Scaredy Cat doesn't seem too sure Skeezle knows what he's doing. Skeezle keeps talking about staying hidden, keeping under cover, but won't tell Scaredy Cat what he's trying to keep under cover from! Storia's fairly certain Scaredy Cat is second-guessing agreeing to come to the party and missing his best friend, Kaida.

Storia isn't certain how this quiet party started getting so out of hand! She tries to interrupt Boris and Joy to ask if they know where Isla and Trai'zari have disappeared to, when she finds Cupig trying to spy on their conversation - again! They all thought they were safe taking their conversation higher up in the room, but forgot this pig knows how to fly. Frustrated, Storia tries to ignore him as she wonders what caused everything to start going so crazy....

Christmas Morning
[desc=0] Thanks to Joy's help, Storia's tree was finished just in time! They share a drink together as Christmas day begins to dawn.

New Years
[desc=0] Storia received an invitation to a New Years party!

Image 25 Date: 2017-01-01 10:47:22

New Year's Party - Aftermath
[desc=0] Storia has heard that the other NPCs are making New Years Resolutions. Right now she's too worn out from the party and her head hurts too much to think of any. Is the room spinning? She thinks it might be...

Image 26 Date: 2017-01-07 05:21:29

A Tough Decision
[desc=0] After recovering from the New Year's Party, Storia has a big decision on her hands - what story will she tell next?

Image 27 Date: 2017-02-05 02:06:30

The Food Bushes - Overlooking Frank
[desc=0] The land of Pets 'n' Friends is a very interesting place, with many interesting and bizarre creatures, history, customs...well...it has an interesting everything.

Now you know Frank has his foods he sell to all of us, so no pet has to harm another. But have you ever wondered where those amazing food-growing bushes (and trees!) came from?

Image 28 Date: 2017-04-19 22:33:24

The Food Bushes - Finding the Right Book
[desc=0] Lucky for all of us, my ancestors were there when the first food bushes came into existence, and wrote the story down to be passed through the generations of all pets. It took me a while to find it (I have so many boxes of books and not enough bookcases!), but I would love to share the story with you.

Image 29 Date: 2017-07-01 01:54:38

The Food Bushes - About Unicorns...
[desc=0] It is said that two unicorns of different colours can never agree about anything. That’s partly because they are vain; they cannot stand to share an opinion with an inferior copy of their perfect selves. But it’s also because they know what will happen if they do.

Image 30 Date: 2017-07-13 03:08:39

The Food Bushes - Meet Frank
[desc=0] The best example is the story of Frank. Frank’s a pig. If he wasn’t a pig,he would still be a pig; but you will find that out soon enough.

Image 31 Date: 2017-07-24 23:35:52

For the Love of Frank
[desc=0] Frank’s problem was simple. Everybody loved him! Some loved him between two hunks of bread, others on a spit, still others liked him sliced up and grilled, but most of the creatures Frank met, loved Frank. So he spent his life avoiding those who liked him. Of course that meant he only ever met creatures who didn’t like him, which caused Frank to develop a whole series of complexes.

Image 32 Date: 2017-08-30 02:11:41

An Unexpected Guest
[desc=0] One day a green unicorn and a blue unicorn were arguing about a bush, because they had already argued about everything else in sight. Just as they began disputing the colour of its leaves, they heard a whimper from underneath it. So both unicorns bent their noble, gracefully arched neck by the side of the other’s scrawny, mangy neck, to look under the bush. Hiding in the shade was Frank, who felt he had better explain himself.

Image 33 Date: 2017-11-12 20:41:26

Even With Apple Sauce
[desc=0] “Everybody loves me,” he squealed pitifully. (It was a very good squeal, but it expressed pitiful sentiments). Neither of his visitors understood, as they were, of course, some of the few creatures who did not love Frank. Even with apple sauce.

“We don’t love you,” they said truthfully; then to their surprise, they realised they were in danger of agreement.

“I’d say this pig was an inconsequential misanthrope,” said the blue unicorn.

“And I would say he was a regrettable blot on the landscape,” said the green.

They looked one another in their opalescent, bloodshot eyes, depending whether they described themselves or one another. This was serious; they had never agreed about anything before!

Image 34 Date: 2017-11-12 21:01:15

If I Weren’t So Dashed Tasty
[desc=0] Frank was overwhelmed with relief that nobody (at least no-one present) loved him. He presumed this meant they were going to be helpful.

“It would all be all right,” he said, “if I weren’t so dashed tasty.”

“Tasteless?” suggested the blue unicorn.

The green thought for a moment. “In bad taste?” he suggested. It was the nearest he could come to disagreeing.

“We had been hoping someone would settle our argument,” said the blue.“Percival here is so clearly ---“

But Frank was having none of it. “What I need,” he insisted, because he didn’t like listening to anyone else, “is something that tastes like me, but isn’t me. Then when other animals are so delighted to see me, instead of running away, I can say, ‘hey, look at this! With the great taste of Frank!’, and they’ll say ‘what a great idea, can you bring us some more?’ And I’ll say…”.

Image 35 Date: 2017-11-12 21:05:41

Annoyance and Agreeance
[desc=0] The green and the blue were now of one mind. Even agreeing with one another was worth it, if they could just stop this creature whining about his wretched problems.

“So suppose this shrub,” began the green.

‘Bush”, corrected the blue. The green snorted; what was the point of making an issue of that when they both wanted to get rid of Frank before he spoiled the argument they wanted to have?

“Bush,” agreed the green, just to get it over with. “Suppose this bush were to taste like you - and you knew how to get more bushes that tasted the same, how to take care of them, how to market them, and had the sole supply of them. Then would you be able to stop squealing and leave us in peace?”

Frank’s eyes widened in wonder. “Indeed!” he replied.

Image 36 Date: 2017-11-12 21:14:34

The Bacon Bush
[desc=0] “My, my,” said the blue. “I believe I am looking at a bush of exactly that kind.”

“As am I,” said the green, no matter how much it hurt him to agree with the loathsome blue creature beside him.

Frank looked at the bush he had been hiding under. It looked different. Surely he should have noticed what grew on it before he took cover?

“Gosh,” he said. “I never knew this was a bacon bush. No wonder I felt so well camouflaged!”

“Congratulations on finding it,” said the blue.

“Yes, you have found the very thing you need!” agreed the green. “We’ll help you dig it up.” So of course they did.

Image 37 Date: 2017-11-12 21:21:09

The Afternoon's Entertainment
[desc=0] Frank left with the bush as fast as his trotters could trot. His mind was filled with schemes for exploiting his new discovery. He would soon feel safe in company for the first time in his life!

“Do you think he will guess?” asked the blue.

“Not a chance,” replied the green. “He’s entirely too stupid and conceited to think this was our idea and not his.”

“Much as I hate to say so, I agree,” said the blue. “Now about your tail. Do you spend all day dragging it through hedges, or have you had it replaced with a fly whisk?”

“We already disputed that,” said the green. “We had begun arguing about the bush.”

“What bush?” asked the blue. Then they both realised they had not only got rid of Frank, but also their afternoon’s entertainment.

Image 38 Date: 2017-11-12 21:35:47

The End of The Story
[desc=0] Two unicorns of a different colour never, ever agree if they can possibly help it, because if they do, everything they say comes into being, magically – and they generally live to regret it. Ever since they gave Frank the bacon bush, he has been sure it was his idea; because both a green and a blue unicorn say so. And how they wish they had not! But that’s another story.

Every Day Moments
[desc=0] Storia enjoys getting together with friends any time, but especially on book club nights!

Storia Welcomes the Candy-pillars to Pets 'n' Friends!
[desc=0] Storia Chie is always very interested in new friends, but the news of new caterpillars is especially irresistible! So when she heard about the colourful new arrivals, she hopped into her little pink car (not an easy maneuver with so many legs, I can tell you!) and made her way to their last known location. Can they make their new home in PnF land? Of course!
As they travel, Storia wonders, would they mind sharing their story and their history with their curious blue cousin?

"How the Candy-pillars Came to be so Delicious" (aka "Be Careful What You Wish For!")
[desc=0] "Well," said the Candy-pillar's leader (whose name just happened to be Candy), "Our story begins innocently enough, in a land far, far from here. While there were no bacon bushes like you have, there was plenty of food for all, and our people didn't generally eat one another (although the occasional bird would wander through, and I'm sure you can imagine what chaos that caused!)"

Candy shuddered at some far away memory, then continued, "We were happy enough, for the most part, but our mother would fret occasionally about how dull and drab we were. We, as butterflies, do have the tendency toward vanity, and so she persisted in comparing herself unfavorably to her fellow 'flies, despite the fact that her elegant gray and yellow wings were considered quite attractive by all who knew her. Her children, of course, could care less that we were dull gray, as we knew that we would get our yellow when we earned our wings! We were happy to inch along the branches, nibbling leaves and fruit, while our mothers fluttered about, sipping nectar."

"How the Candy-pillars Came to be so Delicious" (aka "Be Careful What You Wish For!")
[desc=0] "One fateful day, when Mother was feeling especially restless, a beautiful creature flew over our land. It's wings were as blue as the sea, and there was a kindly, mischievous twinkle in its eye."

"Why are you so sad, my fluttery friend?" the wondrous creature inquired...

Candy smiled a rueful smile, "If Mother had realized that this creature was kin to the Unicorns, she might not have been so ready to trust in a stranger! Unicorns have a reputation in our land as mischief makers, and this creature was about to provide proof that their reputation was deserved!"

"As the lovely creature continued, Mother was becoming more and more mesmerized by it's beauty, but unbeknownst to Mother, it was more than beauty that was affecting her..."

"What you truly wish for, you will receive" the creature cried, and with a swish of it's tail, it was gone..."

"Wait!" Mother shouted, but it was gone as quickly as it had come...

"Well, that's the oddest thing!" Mother thought, "What I truly wish for..."

"How the Candy-pillars Came to be so Delicious" (aka "Be Careful What You Wish For!")
[desc=0] Storia's eyes grew wide with wonder as Candy continued her story...
"Well," Candy continued, "Mother was in a conundrum. What did she truly wish for? Did she really want to change her wings? The more she thought, the more she realized she was happy as she was. Her children were a bit drab, but happy, so she wasn't sure what she would change about them either! As she was sipping nectar one day, watching her cater-children at play among the fruits, she admired the great variety that the Tree of Plenty bore, and wondered what it would be like if her children were just like their favorite fruits. Then, suddenly, POOF! Every last one of us was transformed into a lovely rainbow of colors! Well, I can tell you, that caused quite a stir! But odder still was the fruity scent that seemed to get stronger as the day wore on. Where was that lovely scent coming from? The fruit always smelled delicious to us, but it didn't seem to be coming from the tree at all...

"How the Candy-pillars Came to be so Delicious" (aka "Be Careful What You Wish For!")
[desc=0] Candy was very animated by this time, and Storia could tell that things were about to get exciting in this amazing tale!

"Well," Candy said, "Mother thought it best to call a meeting with all of us, and she explained what had happened with the strange creature, and that she thought that it had been responsible for our changing into these colorful bodies, instead of our usual drab gray. What she did not know was that it wasn't only our appearance that changed!"

As Storia listened, fascinated, Candy described how, as they were talking, many creatures were gathering closer and closer... Most were familiar to them, including many they considered good friends, but there were also a few strangers, and they had a very odd look about them! Some seemed curious, but most were just plain hungry!! Even their fellow bugs and butterflies were looking like they wanted a nibble!

Candy grew agitated as she continued, "We might have been in real trouble if my little sister hadn't started cleaning her antennae at that point. "Candy!!" She cried!

"I thought she was talking to me!" Candy admitted, sheepishly, "But she was trying to tell us that her antennae tasted like candy! No wonder even our friends were looking at us like that! We smelled delicious, and apparently, we tasted that way, too!"
