If you are wandering outside at night, you may catch sight of me as I run around looking for dinner. Let’s play catch me if you can. I excel at climbing and leaping from branch to branch, haha, you can’t catch me now.

Pine Martens are part of the Mustelid family which includes otters, skunks, ferrets, weasels, and others. Around 60,000 years ago the Pine Marten migrated from Asia to North America. The Pine Marten is nocturnal and feasts on fruit—it loves raspberries and strawberries—nuts, bugs, and small mammals. The Pine Marten has also been called a forest kitten.

I am very cute, and about the size of a cat. I have to be careful when I am out hunting and am wary of the skies, for in the sky is the eagle, and eagles love to pick up smaller creatures. My pawprints are hard to distinguish because I use a loping gait, which means my back paws fall into the prints left by my front paws, sneaky, so it takes a clever sleuth to track me.
