| | Welcome to my abode.
You will find no danger here, unless my herd is threatened. Though I stand as protector, wise keeper of this forest, my benevolence to strangers is well known throughout the lands. My elegance seldom matched.
Please, walk with me. My home has been decorated to display my herd's rich heritage. This statue, for instance, depicts my ancestors, pulling the coaches of Romans during their hunting festivals. One of their goddesses, Diana, is often depicted with one of our kind beside her.
You have been eyeing my antlers. I take no offense. Though they are majestic I can feel it in the wind...in the way the ground hardens and softens, they are beginning to fade. Soon new pedicles will take the place of these antlers, and their old velvet will provide strong nutrition for the benefit others. Do not worry, as every day has a new dawn, so we, too, begin anew each spring.
Now, come. Let us bask in the grace of the undisturbed moonlight. |
