When I was a young bundle of tawny feathers, I danced for the sheer joy of playing. Now that I am all grown up, I will still dance. I will dance to form a bond. I will dance to strengthen that bond through the years. I will dance and call to communicate if I want to be left alone or if I want to play.

Sometimes, I am placed outside where I can feel the breezes and enjoy the sounds of birds. I am happy, as happy as any little cactus could be. It is rare for a cactus to bloom, it can take a very long time, sometimes as much as 50 years, or it may never bloom.

I have put a lot of energy into that pink bloom. I would accept a hug, but my little prickles may tickle you; they keep me safe from bugs that may see me as a tasty snack. I hope to be able to bloom again for you one day.

Speaking of being scared, have you ever gone ghost hunting? It's one of my favourite year-round activities! Some pets say ghosts are more active in October, especially at Halloween, but I think that's just a silly rumour to make the month seem more scary. Oh - I was on my way out to look for ghosts right now, would you like to come?

But enough about parties or not-parties. There's more to this spook-tacular month than a party! I love going for late night walks in a dark forest, sharing scary stories around a fire, even haunted houses! I thought about operating a haunted house once, but it was a lot more work than I thought it would be! I'd rather be scared than do the scaring anyway.

Are you ready for Halloween? It's my favourite night of the year! Everything about the dark and mysterious fills my October with wonder and excitement as I gear up for the biggest party of the year - my famous Halloween Party! At least, I think it's famous. No one has shown up yet so I guess I don't really know...

I’m round, two rounds in fact and cute as a button, made with fresh snow and bits and bobs that no one is using. I don’t know what brought me to life; was it the toque placed upon my head? Perhaps it was just the love that was put into creating me.

If there is snow, there will be snowpeople; it is a law of the universe. Pets and people cannot resist taking a small handful of snow and rolling it on the snow-covered ground to see how big a snowball they can make. Once that is done, the next step is to add a face and a scarf or hat.

With such a variety of snowmen, there are endless possibilities for stories and play. Enjoy the season with a snow family in your yard, but don’t try to bring them inside.

This is nice, sitting on this ice floe, you with your campfire roasting the fish you caught, and me with my raw cod, which by the way, is delicious.

Have you ever been diving? I can dive 300 m (980 ft). It is a whole other world down there and so peaceful. Maybe you would like to join me if you get one of those things that allow you to breathe underwater, we can explore my favourite areas under the sea.

Arf! Arf! Wiggle, wiggle.Hi! Hi! I am a baby Dalmatian puppy. I am so cute, don’t you think I am cute? Do you see all my spots? Can you count how many I have? Do you think I will grow more spots as I get older?

I am so excited to meet you. Runs around in circles. I hope you have a ball, I love to chase balls. I am trying to get my paws to cooperate and take me where I want to go, so we should walk and see what the ducks are doing in the pond. I heard some quacking this morning. I hope we can be best friends.

So you say a group of gold fish is called a 'troubling'? I'm hardly troubling, I'm here by myself! After two millennia of care, gold fish have adapted to be your pets for decades at a time. I'll remember you if you come around often, my memory is better than the rumours say - I'll certainly remember if you tap my bowl! Don't do it! It's so loud!

Unlike my angel fish friend, I don't like the dark...so give me all those wonderfully flashy plants they don't like, please!

I’m not blue, but you may be if you touch me. Tiny, I am so tiny, only about 2 to 1.8 inches (3-4.5 cm). I am a vibrant blue with black spots so I am not easy to miss. Yes, I am poisonous to the touch and that is bad news, but there is good news. If you want to have me in your life, it is simple, provide me a home, and feed me crickets and fruit flies.

The poison comes from the insects I eat out in the wild and those insects have been nibbling on poisonous plants, so if you don’t feed me those types of insects I will be safe to have as a friend. This might be the start of a never-blue friendship.

Tweet, Twitter! I know you can’t join me unless you have a pair of wings you can put on. You don’t? Oh, that is sad, but I won’t be long. I am going to fly around and see what I can find that is interesting. I have decided to take up watercolour painting, and I need inspiration.

Maybe I will find a flower that I would like to paint, or maybe one of the nests has baby birds in it that would be fun to depict on canvas. A bird has to stretch their wings and imagination now and then. Tweet! See you soon.
