Oh boy! I am all ready for a day of fun in the water. See, I have my flippers and my beach ring. I have been waiting for the perfect summer day to enjoy relaxing on the beach. First, I will spend some time floating in the waves. Next, I will dive below the water to see all the pretty fish. When I am hungry, I will visit the food stalls that line up on the beach and treat myself to some tasty summer food. Summer is the time I look forward to all year.

The origin of the piñata dates back to China, where paper figures were filled with seeds and broken for good luck. Eventually, the idea arrived in Italy, where pignatta, or “fragile pot,” was used during the first Sunday of Lent. When the idea hit North America, there was already a similar item used by the Mayans, where pots covered with feathers were hit with a stick to release small items. The combination of the different versions creates what we recognize today as the piñata.

The piñata is a fun activity that every pet looks forward to at birthday parties or any celebration. Pets can have a great time creating their own piñatas in any shape or size they like. Fill the piñata with small toys, candy, or wrapped treats.
